“But I Don’t Know How to Pose” — Good. That’s Literally My Job.

Andrea Baue Photography | Minneapolis Boudoir Photographer

Can I tell you something that might make you feel a whole lot better?

Almost every single woman who walks into my Minneapolis boudoir studio says some version of the same thing before her session:

“I don’t know what I’m doing.”
“I’m so awkward in photos.”
“I’m not photogenic at all.”
“I’m going to need a lot of help.”

And every single time, I say the same thing back:

Good. Because that’s exactly why I’m here.

You Are Not Supposed to Know How to Pose

Let me be really clear about something: you are not a professional model. You are not supposed to walk into a boudoir session with a repertoire of poses, a practiced smize, and a working knowledge of your “good side.”

You don’t need any of that.

You don’t need to know where your hands go. You don’t need to have done this before. You don’t even need to feel ready.

All you need to do is show up.

I will handle every single thing else.

From your first nervous laugh to your last smoldering look at the camera, I’m right there with you — coaching, directing, hyping you up like your favorite playlist on shuffle. Every pose, every angle, every lighting setup is chosen to make you look and feel incredible. That’s not a bonus. That’s the whole job.

What Actually Happens Inside My Minneapolis Boudoir Studio

Here’s what I’ve watched happen hundreds of times inside this studio:

A woman walks in stiff. Nervous. Convinced she’s going to be the one client who can’t pull it off.

And then something shifts.

It usually happens around the third or fourth pose — when she stops thinking about whether she’s doing it right and starts actually feeling herself. That’s when the fire shows up. That’s when the walls drop. That’s when the real her steps forward and I’m clicking as fast as I can because that’s the shot.

That’s not a filter. That’s not luck. That’s what happens when someone finally gives themselves permission to just exist in the moment without apologizing for it.

That woman? She’s in there. We just have to give her a little room.

You Cannot Mess This Up

I want you to read this part slowly:

You. Cannot. Mess. This. Up.

The only way to mess up a boudoir session with me is to not book one.

You could show up in a robe with your hair in a bun and your heart pounding out of your chest and we would still make magic. Because the magic was never about the pose. It was never about looking a certain way or knowing what to do with your hands.

It’s about the moment you look at the back of my camera and think — wait, is that really me?

That moment? That’s what we’re chasing. And we find it every single time.

So If “I Don’t Know How to Pose” Has Been Your Reason for Waiting…

Let it go.

That’s not a reason. That’s just fear dressed up in a logical costume.

You bring your energy. Your spark. Your story. I’ll bring my camera, my coaching, my lighting setup, and ten years of making women in Minneapolis look like the most powerful version of themselves.

You just show up. I’ve got everything else.

Ready to stop overthinking and get on the books? Let’s do this.
