Who is Cody? (In his own words)

Hi I am Cody-John and I am a licensed esthetician born and raised here in Minnesota. I’ve always wanted a career where I could help people and before becoming an esthetician, I worked as a direct support professional for adults with different abilities.

In my spare time, I love to collect and burn candles, watch reality TV and when I’m able – I love to travel across the country and explore new places! My favorite holiday is Halloween and I love dressing up and being silly as well. I’m also a huge tattoo enthusiast and have quite the collection!”

How Did Drop Dead Gorgeous Come About?

Drop Dead Gorgeous was born in 2020, a year after I graduated from the Aveda Institute Minneapolis. The idea for my brand and business was to provide beauty services to people who don’t fit into the same binary or box as “traditional” spas and salons. I specifically cater to the LGBTQIA+ and larger-bodied community as I am a member of those communities and my goal was to create an inclusive space catered to folks like me.

My business is located inside of a Sola Salons in West Saint Paul so I am a completely independent service provider with a private suite making it a stress-free option for those who are also overwhelmed by overly populated spaces.

What makes my business unique and stand out is the fact that I pride myself on being a judgement-free zone where people can come as they are and be celebrated. My spa table can safely hold up to 750lbs, my spa robes are size inclusive as well and go up to 4-5X. My space is ADA compliant and has no stairs/steps making it extremely accessible as well.

I am proud to say I have clientele of all shapes and sizes and from all backgrounds and that is what makes my business and services truly unique!
