The definition of Forgiveness is “ A conscious, deliberate decision to release feelings of resentment or vengeance towards a person or thing.” Often times we feel as if our bodies are not good enough or have betrayed us because they do not look move, or work in a certain way. I know I felt that way when I had to have a hysterectomy. Sometimes we need to recognize our feelings towards our body and FORGIVE it!
During this empowerment session, The women came to the studio, and we all sat down and chatted about who we were and our struggles with our bodies. We then took around 20 minutes or so to write a letter to ourselves, forgiving ourselves and our bodies. Some of the women shared the letters and some of them didn’t. I felt honored to be in a circle of strong, powerful, loving women who wanted to accept themselves and to move into accepting themselves where they are at right now.
After sharing we used body paint and started to paint the words “Forgiven” on a certain body part we wanted to accept. As we painted the words there were often tears. It was very emotional to physically touch and write these words. I could feel the relief and acceptance from each of the women as we created the portraits. It was such an incredible day filled with love, laughter, crying, and strength. Thank you to each and every brave lady who came and opened up to all of us! Empowerment sessions feed my soul!
